Gas kemudian diarahkan melalui bagian konvergen menuju throat, di mana kecepatan gas meningkat secara signifikan hingga<strong> 40\u201345 m\/s<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Sebuah <strong>nozzle atomisasi khusus<\/strong> yang dipasang di bagian atas (diproduksi menggunakan teknologi impor dari Amerika Serikat dan berbahan nano polymer composite) menyemprotkan air dalam bentuk kabut halus untuk melembabkan gas buang. Partikel debu sangat halus (sekitar <strong>1\u20131.55 \u03bcm<\/strong>) akan tertangkap dan terikat oleh droplet air ultra-halus, sehingga massanya meningkat. Melalui tumbukan berkecepatan tinggi, partikel-partikel tersebut saling beragregasi dan membesar<\/p><p>Gas kemudian memasuki <strong>bagian divergen<\/strong>di mana kecepatannya menurun cepat menjadi <strong>8\u201310 m\/s<\/strong>yang semakin mempercepat proses penggumpalan (aglomerasi) dan pembesaran partikel. Selanjutnya, gas keluar dari bagian ini dengan kecepatan relatif tinggi, berputar dan naik mengikuti arah tangensial. Sekitar <strong>70% partikel debu<\/strong> terlempar ke dinding dalam dust collector dan terbawa turun oleh lapisan air (water film) yang terbentuk dari overflow trough khusus, menuju outlet lumpur di bagian bawah.<\/p><p>Sisa <strong>sekitar 30% gas buang yang masih mengandung debu<\/strong> bergerak naik dengan pola pusaran (swirling) di bawah panduan <strong>kolom inti menara aliran balik (reverse-flow tower core column)<\/strong> dan swirl plate bagian atas. Gas kemudian masuk ke <strong>swirl plate basah efisiensi tinggi tahap pertama dan kedua<\/strong>. Cairan desulfurisasi membentuk lapisan air pada blade dan swirl plate. Dengan kecepatan gas yang tinggi, terjadi fluidisasi pada plate, dan gas terus berputar naik menuju <strong>swirl plate pemisah gas\u2013cair<\/strong>, untuk memisahkan uap air.<\/p><p>Selanjutnya, gas melewati <strong>separator uap tipe labirin<\/strong> yang dibentuk oleh inverted cone mushroom cap dan pelindung anti air, sehingga pemisahan kelembaban menjadi lebih optimal. Gas buang yang telah dibersihkan kemudian dialirkan melalui ducting, ditarik oleh induced draft fan, dan dilepaskan ke atmosfer melalui cerobong.<\/p><p>Pada desain demister konvensional, hanya mengatasi pemisahan kabut (demisting) saja tidaklah cukup. Dalam sistem desulfurisasi secara keseluruhan, perlu mempertimbangkan secara menyeluruh fenomena carryover dan kondensasi untuk benar-benar mengatasi masalah terbawanya air (water entrainment).<\/p><p>Pada desain demister konvensional, hanya mengatasi pemisahan kabut (demisting) saja tidaklah cukup.
